This abstract landscape painting was inspired by a lake view on a hot July day. The water was a shimmering against a clear intensely blue sky with the only interruption between lake and sky was the trees along the shoreline. When I squinted my eyes in the bright sunshine the landscape looked like vertical forms set against a vivid blue backdrop. The painting is infused with expressive, free-flowing brushstrokes that create movement and depth capturing the essence of a natural landscape in an abstract way. It evokes the feeling of being at the lake on a hot, sunny day when sky and water meld into one.
