Discover the Joy of an Art Walk: Visiting Local Artists’ Open Studios

There’s something magical about stepping into an artist’s studio — that hum of creativity, the scent of paint, and the sight of colourful works in progress. When several artists open their studios to the public, it becomes a wonderful community celebration known as an art walk.

If you’ve never been to an art walk, I trust you’ll find it a unique and inspiring way to explore local art, meet the artists behind the work, and experience creativity up close.

People are often curious about how an artist works day to day. Seeing sketches, works in progress, and the little details of a studio space helps them connect more deeply with the finished paintings. It turns the art walk into something personal and memorable.

The Magic of Connection

One of my favourite things about participating in an art walk event is the chance to talk directly with art lovers, collectors, and curious visitors. People ask about colours, materials, and inspiration — and those conversations often spark beautiful exchanges about nature, creativity, and the emotions that art can evoke.

It’s this human connection that makes open studios so special. Instead of viewing art from a distance, visitors can experience the story behind each piece and meet the artist who created it.

A Feast for the Senses

Each stop on an art walk has its own personality. Some studios are bright and modern, others cozy and filled with the scent of paint or clay. Walking from one studio to another is like taking a tour through many creative worlds — each with its own mood, colour palette, and story.

Supporting Local Artists

Attending an art walk is also a meaningful way to support your local art community. When you visit, share kind words, or purchase a painting or print, you’re helping sustain local creativity. Even a small purchase makes a big difference for working artists.

Buying directly from an artist means you’re getting a piece with a story — something made by hand and filled with care.

Why Art Walks Are Worth It

An art walk isn’t just an event; it’s an experience. It’s a chance to explore your local creative scene, meet talented artists, and be inspired by what happens inside their studios.

If you’re in Winnipeg, Manitoba please join us for the South Osborne Arts Group Art Walk on December 6 & 7/25 from noon - 5:00. Several artists in the South Osbornes community are opening their studios for you.

Bring a friend and wander from studio to studio. You’ll discover incredible artwork, inspiring stories, and a welcoming community that celebrates creativity in all its forms.

My Participation

I’m partnering with ‘Reymond Page Art Studio’ where I will have several small paintings to view and purchase at his studio. You can see a few of them above.

They’re all framed and ready-to-hang and are specially priced at $150.00 each. It’s a great opportunity to purchase one of my paintings at an affordable price.

If you’re unable to attend in person you can purchase the paintings through my website. (click link to go to collection on website ).
