Painter’s Folly?

Painter’s Folly?

 Was I Brave or Foolish?

A few weeks ago I was feeling brave. Not running into a burning building type of brave, but artist type brave. Like most artists I question my art.  Is it good enough? Will people like it? Does it say what I want? Some days the questions seem endless!

What brave thing did I actually do then?

Did You Vote?

I asked people to vote on 9 of my recent still life paintings. I wanted to know which ones they liked the best. You could vote in the comments of my recent YouTube video or on a poll in the posts on my YouTube channel. Many thanks everyone who voted.

The results were interesting and mostly confirmed my own take on the paintings. Here are the winners.

These ones were tied

BTW, you can still see all the options on my YouTube posts page here. You can find more detailed information on the paintings here

That’s a Wrap

I’ve enjoyed doing these still life paintings even though they are very challenging for me.  I painted only landscapes for many years and I’ve found painting this genre quite different. I expect it will take me a few years to feel competent, but it’s time to put the still life paintings away for now.

I’ll be painting landscapes for the next 6 months and I’m excited to be going outdoors again and indulging in my favourite type of painting.

Remember to subscribe to my e-newsletter to get early access to my new paintings and some behind the scenes action as i go back to the lake and tackle painting in the wilds of the Canadian Shield once again.

Until next time,

Marlene
