Organizing My Website

Organizing My Website

The agony was real. How do I organize my website? Do I make it the same as my Pinterest Boards? What about SEO ( I was told that it’s very important ).

Overwhelmed? Yes

I freely admit I was overwhelmed when I started organizing this website. The learning curve is steep and just when I thought I was making progress along came AI. Apparently AI is disrupting SEO along with lots of other stuff though that’s another blog. I’ll write about my take on how AI is impacting and expected to impact art in the near future.

For now, I’m still trying to figure out how to organize my website!

What’s Next?

Even though I get bogged down in all the technology and prefer to paint, I also want to show up for you.  I want to share my art with you. Moreover, I like being part of a community of art enthusiasts.

Showing up means having a well organized website so people can find what they want. Apparently, search engines also respond well to this.  It’s win-win. So, I organized my website and paintings into categories, which are called Collections.

Why These Collections?

I chose a number of categories or collections for my paintings, which seem intuitive, at least to me. In case you’re wondering why I chose these particular categories it would undoubtedly help if I explained a couple of things about myself.

  1. I have an advanced degree in geography and love drilling down to understand a place and landscape
  2. I love plants of all shapes and sizes and have houseplants, a garden and a summer cottage in the wilds of the Canadian Shield
  3. I love music and play the piano

Ta…Da…Presenting the Collections

Even though I like painting collections with names like ‘Where the Rabbits Live’ I decided to use names that search engines like and people are more likely to use. Here they are:

Yes, I know. They’re not out there, but I like their simplicity and ease of understanding. Let me know any you think? Do they help you navigate and find what you want?

Get back to me with any questions or observations. I’d love to hear from you,
